About the Casino
The Online Casino might not have the most original name around, but there’s not a shred of doubt that this IS a casino worth your attention. ProgressPlay certainly believes that, otherwise it wouldn’t have named its online gambling venue with a sportsbook that. All jokes aside, we did approach this The Online Casino review with our full attention, as we do for every casino we play at and review. So, let’s see how it all works, what bonuses there are, and how it stacks against other online casinos, with or without “the” in their names.
User Experience 6/10
The initial impressions of this casino were strange, to say the least. Some navigation buttons were straight-up broken on certain browsers, pages were loading partially, and we couldn’t find almost any information regarding banking, bonuses, and more. It turned out that there’s another The Online Casino website, one through which you’ll actually be playing games and collecting your winnings. Why ProgressPlay made two almost entirely different websites is beyond us, as it can easily confuse those unused to online casinos.
Luckily, once you’re on the “right” page, it’s a different story: While the pages take a bit more to load than we’d like, everything worked right, was laid out properly, and we could access all information and demo games. The sportsbook is clearly separated from the main casino page and looks more serious than its game-oriented counterpart.
The Online Casino site’s main page is dominated by a giant banner promoting the current bonus. Scroll just a bit down, and you’ll be greeted with large icons that lead to individual game games, as well as different game categories. The colour scheme isn’t too bright, so it works great for playing in the evening or at night, when you come back from work and just want to relax with your favourite slots.
Unfortunately, this casino is one of those that randomly play audio clips, making you jump out of your seat. Dear casino operators, can you please stop giving us mini heart attacks, pretty please?
Unfortunately, there’s no dedicated The Online Casino app for smartphones, so you’ll have to rely on your mobile browser if you want to play casino games or punt on the go. The site has a dedicated section that’s optimised for mobile play, although the same confusion around navigation applies to the mobile version, too. Once you make sense of the clunky navigation, though, it’s smooth sailing.
Software & Game Selection 10/10:
Slots are always the main attraction of casinos, and The Online Casino doesn’t disappoint. The selection of games is huge and includes all the fan favourites, with some pop culture-inspired slots thrown in for good measure.
The next part of The Online Casino games library includes dozens of excellent card games. Whether you prefer virtual or live blackjack, Hold ‘em, or baccarat, you’ll find plenty of options here. The live games section is almost all about card games, and you’ll find many impressive lobbies to play in and chat with other players.
If you’re more of a roulette kind of player, you won’t be disappointed. There are all kinds available, from the classic version, to European, and immersive live roulette. You can even try virtual roulette for free to check if luck’s on your side.
When you need a break from casino games, or you’ve spent The Online Casino free spins and want a different kind of excitement, the sportsbook section has got you covered. It lets you bet on all popular sports and leagues, but also esports and various non-sporting events. It’s a really well-made site on par with what sports bettors expect from their favourite betting sites.
All the things mentioned above wouldn’t be possible if ProgressPlay hadn’t struck some deals with the world’s leading casino game providers. The list is just too long for us to name all of them, but you can rest assured that every game provider you can think of is present on this website.
Bonuses & Free Play Options 9/10
After signing up, The Online Casino welcome bonus awaits, granting you a neat combo of free cash to spend in the casino along with 20 free spins on Book of Dead. Your first deposit will be 100% matched up to £100, but you’ll need to wager it 50 times to convert it into real money, which is a stricter requirement to meet than those at other casinos. Winnings from free spins are capped at £20 total and have the same wagering requirements but, unlike the cash bonus that you have 30 days to unlock, the free spin bonus is valid for just seven days.
At The Online Casino, promotions are an everyday thing. First off, there are monthly reload bonuses that, just like the welcome bonus, include a matched bonus in cash and some free spins on specific, popular slots. They each require a code to activate, which you’ll find in the Promotions section.
Wednesdays are cashback days: The casino will give back up to 10% of your deposit losses with the code CBGAMES, but you’ll need to deposit at least £20 to unlock this promotion. On Thursdays, you can join exciting tournaments and hunt the top spot on the leaderboard, while on the weekends, you can earn extra spins and even more cash back, but only for roulette games.
There’s also The Online Casino VIP club called Rewards Programme. Every player is automatically entered into this promotion, and all you have to do to score points is deposit money and play more games. You can also do missions to get even more points, which you can then exchange for fabulous prizes like extra spins, bonus money, and exclusive deals. Your account levels up, too, granting you access to better rewards along the way.
Customer Support 9/10:
Playing at a casino isn’t always a smooth experience. Bugs happen, promotions fail to unlock, or you can’t find the information you need. Luckily, if anything like this happens, you can contact The Online Casino customer support 24/7 via live chat and email. There’s also a helpful FAQ section with dozens of questions already answered, although it’s a bit too disorganised for our liking. Some information, especially concerning bonuses, is scattered around the site instead of sitting in one place.
Banking Options 9/10
The Online Casino accepts players from all around the world and many currencies. At the time of writing, we could play in EUR, USD, GBP, CAD, NZD, JPY, and INR. Even better, minimum and maximum transactions are set in each currency expressly, so constant conversion wasn’t needed.
Speaking of transactions, you can place The Online Casino deposit with a debit card, or through PayPal, paysafecard, Trustly, MuchBetter, Skrill, bank transfer, EcoPayz, Interac, and NETELLER. This casino also accepts cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin to be precise, through BitBay. Finally, you can also pay via phone if you’re a UK player. Minimum deposits vary, but start at £10. Do note that the welcome bonus isn’t available for payments through Skrill.
When you wish to cash out, you’ll have a lot of banking options at your disposal. The site pays out via debit cards, PayPal, Skrill, NETELLER, ecoPayz, and Trustly. You won’t need to use the same payment method to get your The Online Casino withdrawal as you did for your deposit, and there’s a cooldown of three business days for each method. Depending on the payment method, transfers can then take from one to seven business days.
The Online Casino offers a standard set of limitations and self-exclusion options, including time-outs and wager limits, as well as free GAMSTOP service. ProgressPlay takes extra care of its players, and you’ll find additional resources through the Play Responsibly section in the website’s footer.
Security-wise, we have no complaints. The casino operates under a Malta Gaming Authority license and is very transparent regarding its game payout percentages. As we’ve mentioned previously in this The Online Casino review, there are only world-class providers at this site, meaning the games aren’t rigged and are provably fair. Lastly, your information will stay secure thanks to SSL encryption on every page of the site preventing data leaks.
